Brushless Motor Gearbox
New Addition
Developing a high gear ratio 3D-printable gearbox for small, cheap brushless drone motors to be used in larger robotic assemblies

This project has gone through multiple designs, using many different types of gearboxes:
6:1 spur gearbox, FDM printed with ABS
6:1 herringbone gearbox, FDM printed with ABS and TPU
Modular/Stackable multi-stage 6:1 thin herringbone gearsets
6:1 thin herringbone gearsets, resin printed
24:1 cycloidal gearset, resin printed, showcased here

Each design relies on a RS2205 brushless motor and a hall-effect encoder. The assembly is built to be fairly modular, compact and lightweight. The parts are reasonably small and precise, which makes them perfect candidates for SLA or SLS printing. The quick prototyping allowed me to dial in the printer settings and code to create large volumes of extremely precise parts.
